The Nokia N900 cell phone is a new generation of smartphones and the first mass-market appeal Maemo device. New Nokia Cell Phones – Nokia N900 is not an smartphone, it’s really a computer that also make phone calls. That looks like a landscape oriented keyboard, it is a great phone that has a desktop. Might have to wait till I know where Maemo5 is headed. It’s undoubtedly a great OS. I want to get this phone.

The Nokia N900 cell phone features include a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss autofocus camera, 3.5-inch touchscreen display, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, 32 GB internal memory , microSD cards up to 16 GB in size, TV output and running Maemo 5 operating system. The Nokia N900 with GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile. Not all carrier features may be supported. It will not work with CDMA carriers like Verizon Wireless, Alltel and Sprint.

The Nokia N900 is now on sale for $455, the price is high because this is unlocked and no contract. This will not generate mass market appeal, at least I don’t think so, based on the fact that it’s a landscape orientation only phone, and it’s size isn’t exactly thin. I’m happy as hell. I think my wait was worth it.

I can’t say that whether it would be possible to have the Nokia-BMW GPS mobile phone but if it materializes then we would have the best video phone in the digital world. Ukraine’s Evgen Designer’s concept applies ‘Push to Open’ mechanism to rotate the display by 90-degree to convert it to shooting mode. Is Nokia interested in the concept before one of its rivals picks it up?

The Nokia BMW comes with an interesting “push to open” mechanism that makes its display rotate 90 degrees turning the whole device into a handycam. Notice the original camera placement? Sony would probably love to invent something like this…

Google and Dell are on the point of launching a new mobile phone to run on the Android operating system, probably at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona that’s going on at the moment. Dell have tried to enter the mobile phone market once before but their range of PDAs was a complete flop.

Well, would you buy a Dell phone? Exactly.

Dell have also recently acquired Alienware, the trendiest tech company in the world, an expert in Video, Gaming, and Audio, and a company crying out for a mobile phone.

It’s well known that Dell want to enter the mobile phone market. Rivals such as Apple, Hewlett Packard and Asus already have mobile divisions, and last year Dell poached Motorola executive Ron Garriques to run their new global consumer group.

But so far their efforts have come unstuck, the uninspiring Axim PDA handset was dropped mid 2007, and Strategy Analytics Director Neil Mawson gave the following verdict “It makes sense for Dell to have a high-profile entry back into the market because its last effort with PDAs pretty much flopped.”

Why was this? The increasingly dull associations with the Dell brand? Maybe they should change their name to Dull. One thing for sure is there wasn’t exactly much of a stir when the last batch of handhelds were introduced.

The brand did get a shot in the arm however in 2006 when Dell acquired Alienware, the mega-stylish American laptops and desktops manufacturer, known for their expertise in video, audio and gaming.

Alienware are famous for their eye catching designs and innovative technology, only last month they launched the ultimate in video gaming experience, a giant curved monitor that fills the entire of the gamer’s peripheral vision. Conclusion, Alienware cool, Dell not cool.

The argument for an Alienware mobile phone is overwhelming. It would have the striking design to make an impression in a mobile market dominated by fashion phones, it would instantly be the coolest phone on the market thanks to the popularity of the Alienware brand, it would have the marketing muscle of Dell behind it to push it beyond its established niche and into the mainstream, and it would be the mobile gamer’s dream, just as video gaming on mobile phones is starting to enter the picture.

To add to the excitement there have been rumours recently that Dell and Google are on the point of making a surprise announcement at the 3GSM World Mobile Congress with speculation growing over an iPhone-challenging mobile device.

The first wave of phones built on the Google Android Open Development Project are due this summer, what price an early announcement of a real Google phone to sink our teeth into.

The trend

With modern gadgets getting minute in size and big in function, contemporary designers seems to follow the catchword “small is the new big,” which is equally supported by latest advancements in technology. Earlier this year we came across the Sony’s roll-up OLED display concept, and now Chinese designer Wang Yifei has come up with a foldable phone, the Nokia E10, which lets you roll out the display to make or receive mail, and when not in use you may simply stash it to place in your pocket. Prior to the concept, Nokia has already registered a patent describing the integration of foldable displays into mobile phones, though there are indications that the technology would cover a wide range of consumer devices like portable music players, notebooks, etc.

The inspiration

Usually gadgets with soft screen or scroll screen do not support touch control and one-hand control if the screen is very large. This inspired the designer to develop a portable gadget that would make the functions of a scroll screen simple and user-friendly on the go. Moreover, foldable phones are a niche that is new not only for users but for designers as well.

What makes it so special?

First of its kind, the Nokia E10 phone features a bendable screen that works in two different modes, i.e. cellphone and tablet, thanks to the flexible, folding structure, to enhance the experience of the user. Now, users will be able to carry their tablet alongside the cellphone in their pocket. Locating three solar batteries, together with a lithium battery, at the rear, the futuristic cellphone ensures steady battery backup to support extended chatter and work sessions, while addressing the environmental concerns.

What’s in it for me?

Employing a thin, flexible material, the screen rolls around onto a 6mm axis to save extra space and reduce the size, so you could carry it all the time with minimum fuss. When required, the Nokia E10 expands its screen to bigger dimensions (6.4 x 4.0 inch) to enjoy your favorite pictures, videos and movies in high-definition anywhere, anytime. While on the other hand, you can fold it up to make phone calls, send messages, emails, play games and do whatever you want like other normal mobile phones.

What’s next?

The Nokia E10, together with Sony’s roll-up OLED display, has paved the way for a new line of gadgets that the users will be able to stretch, bend or morph into different shapes and sizes to meet their individual needs. Apart from the E10, Nokia is planning to incorporate nanotechnology in its high-end devices, such as the Morph, to increase utility and reduce manufacturing costs in coming years.

One of the leading names in the field of mobile phones, Nokia has now directed its luxury phone division, Vertu to concentrate in the Japanese markets, even after the Finnish phone manufacturer, pulled out of Japan in the year 2008. With the growing Japanese economy, there has been a significant rise in the demand for luxury products and Vertu it seems is intent on capitalizing on this, as the company has announced its plans to introduce four new ‘golden handsets’, with a hefty price tag of a whopping 20 million Yen or $215,000.

The all new Vertu golden handsets will be made from gold lacquerwork and will b produced in Japan. The final price of $215,000 per handset is also inclusive of free domestic calls. As Japanese culture is heavily influenced by nature and philosophy, so it seems that, Vertu has taken that extra step to ensure that, it gets the attention of the Japanese consumer base, as the company has designed each of these golden phones, representing the four seasons of the year, namely, summer, winter, spring and autumn.

All the four golden handsets, named Kinko, Kikusui, Nanten and Daigo will be launched in the Japanese market, marking the occasion of the first anniversary of Vertu’s flagship store, in Ginza, Tokyo.

The BlackBerry Style for Sprint is the best flip smartphone you can now see, and it’s a pretty great messaging phone everywhere. It is unusual to find flip phones, and many of those who want to see that we are not great. Hence the name, the Style is a stylish (and easy) way to get your done and not worry about scratching up a large touch screen in your pocket or purse messaging. It may not be the ultimate super-phone, but it will appeal to a lot of people.

Physical properties and Phone Calls

The 4.6-ounce Style is a somewhat chubby flip phone with 3.8 by 2.4 by 0.7 inches (HWD), but give it a break-in it there is a full QWERTY keyboard. The all-plastic body is shiny in front and back easily enter the handset a classy look textured. The phone fits easily in one hand and feels very solid and well built all around. The front of the Style is dominated by a large 2-inch, 320-by-240 pixel color display. Most of the time there is a large analog clock with various status indicators on the edges. If you receive an e-mail or SMS, there is a preview appears before returning to the Clock. Unfortunately you can not play video on the external screen or use it as a camera viewfinder. Open the Style to a 2.7-inch, 360-by-400-find-pixel TFT LCD screen and full keyboard BlackBerry, complete with a slightly elevated touchpad. The keyboard feels flat and membrane-like than previous blackberries, but it is still usable.

Run on 3G CDMA Sprint network, the Style is an excellent voice phone with one exception: a seriously into the light indicator. The phone displays two bars at a point when I had no signal, and elsewhere showed weak 1X coverage, if I had strong EVDO coverage. This has no effect on the quality, but it is a misleading. Calls sounded absolutely terrific, loud and rich without distortion. There are also options to bump up bass or treble during the talks. The speakerphone is loud and clear, although it does not work with flip closed, a missed opportunity, is certain. The Style just with my Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headset icon, including the activation of the exact Nuance-powered voice dialing paired. Talk time at 5 hours, 17 minutes acceptable. How many BlackBerrys, the Style is characterized standby time, I have more than two days with this phone.

BlackBerry 6 OS and Software

The Style shares his BlackBerry 6 OS with AT & T’s BlackBerry Torch, although it is a slower processor (528MHz, the torch is 624) This is also the first BlackBerry 6 phone without a touchscreen. RIM has said that the current, touch-free Sprint Curve 9650 and Bold 3G phones get BlackBerry 6 upgrades, but the new software has not yet shown. Without the touchscreen, the Style is dependent on its trackpad, calibrated to a bit slippery. It takes some practice to avoid exceeding your brand. The slower processor does not seem to make a difference to performance.
